If the LORD be God, follow him

The following sermon was preached by Rev. Calum I. Macleod on the sabbath Morning, 5th of July, 2009. Elijah calls all Israel to Carmel. Here we have Ahab; a graceless king who is blind to the fact that he is the troubler of Israel; a noble preacher, an example to all preachers; who fears only God and declares the truth, alone, in the face of a murderous enemy. And, an idolatrous, halting, people who had forgotten The Lord Whose Name was once their glory. This sermon is a solemn word to us, as a nation; to our leaders and our preachers and indeed to each and every one of us. How long will ye halt between two opinions?

The text is 1Kings 18:21… And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
