The following sermon was preached by Rev. Calum I. Macleod on the Sabbath Evening, 2nd of August, 2009. What does the parable of The Prodigal Son teach us? Well, most basically, it demonstrates the seeking, the finding, the saving and the triumphant love of God for sinners. It teaches that there is no sinner who has gone so far in sin or so far from God that they cannot be saved. The parable says that there is always hope for the hopeless, help for the helpless and forgiveness for the sinful. This sermon is a call to you, sinner. Come and welcome to Jesus Christ.
The text is Luke 15:13-14… And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
and he began to be in want.
