Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Paul begins to teach in this fourth chapter of Ephesians certain practical exhortations about the way we are to live. You are to, “walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called”. And, one of Paul’s greatest concerns is the unity of the brethren. He gives us four characteristics, “lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love”. These are the prerequisites of unity and although Paul, who was the prisoner of The Lord and Moses who was meek above all men, each gave us an example to follow; it is Christ Himself who teaches us to walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us.

The text is Ephesians 4:13… I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
