Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field

The following sermon was preached by Alistair Macleod (Divinity Student) on the Sabbath Morning, 21st of February, 2010. The hidden treasure of the Scriptures. The unconverted man does not believe that there is any treasure to be found in the Bible; the academic will study The Great Word but still fail to find it’s gold. Only the converted man, the eyes of his understanding having been enlightened; will find that Pearl of great price; Christ and His Kingdom. This is a sermon under three heads. The field; what and where is it? The find; what is the great treasure that is found? And, finally, the forfeit; why is this treasure so valuable that it is worth losing all other things in order to secure it? This sermon is a challenge of your attitude towards God’s Word and His Gospel. Can you say with Paul; I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord?

The text is Matthew 13:44…Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
