Nicene Crede – One Spirit

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life; Who proceeds from the Father and the Son; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

Introduction:

1. Divine Person:

His activity: John 14 and 16.

His indwelling: His temple

His affections: Do not grieve the Holy Spirit

2. Divine names:

LORD: 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

Acts 5:3-4:

God: you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? ¹⁷ If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

3. Divine attributes:

Infinity: Psalm 139

Wisdom: Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows him his counsel?

Knowledge: For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. ¹¹ For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

Power: …by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God
