Introduction:

The distinction:

The context: he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5).

  1. The importance of baptism:
  1. The acknowledgment of baptism:

One baptism:

One body:

One Spirit:

One faith:

One LORD:

  1. The meaning of baptism:

The disciples of Christ: the preposition of is in the original in, into.…baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Dead and Raised with Christ: having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead (Col 2:12).

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life (Romans 6:3-4).

Cleansed by Christ: Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:21).
